The Academic Growth Plan for Graduate Students of the School of Marxism (Phase 2) Successfully Concluded

In order to further optimize the knowledge structure of graduate students in our School, enhance academic research capabilities, and improve scientific research literacy, the School launched the second phase of the Academic Growth Plan for Graduate Students of the School of Marxism in classroom X31325 on June 4, 2021. It successfully concluded on June 25.

This academic growth plan is divided into three parts: excellent graduate essay writing sharing, classic model essay introduction, and study and discussion. In the first part, three graduates, Tan Lijuan, Tu Qiang, and Qi Jie, shared excellent graduation thesis writing skills; in the second part, four academic lectures were shared by four professors: Fang Gang, Yan Jun, Tian Yongxiu and Li Xueyong; in the last part, three students participating in the academic growth plan conducted group discussions and reported their harvests. 

The six activities were detailed and benefited students a lot. The three postgraduates Tan Lijuan, Tu Qiang and Qi Jie combined with the actual situation of their graduation thesis and thoroughly reviewed the organization arrangements, problem handling, and experience and lessons of each link in the thesis writing process. Focusing on the topic of How to Conduct a Case Study, Professor Fang Gang gave an in-depth explanation of the basic connotation, operation methods and object sources of the case study, and made a comparative analysis of the case study and the questionnaire survey. With the topic of An Introduction to Marxist Classical Model Essays, Professor Yan Jun explained his personal understanding of thesis writing and the matters in the writing process on the basis of an in-depth analysis of Li Shujuan’s excellent doctoral thesis. Similarly, Professor Tian Yongxiu gave a theme report entitled Discovering Problems, Solving Problems, and Improving Abilities, sharing a series of thoughts on thesis writing. Based on the professional characteristics of ideological and political education, Professor Li Xueyong used professional theoretical knowledge to give a special explanation on the writing of master’s degree thesis in ideological and political education. Finally, 11 student groups divided according to the research direction conducted exchanges and reports focused on the theme.

The professors and students who participated in the academic seminar gave high praise to this activity. Some professors said that such an academic growth lecture was an academic activity that benefited both professors and students. On the one hand, it was of great help to students’ essay writing and the improvement of scientific research literacy. On the other hand, it was also a process of summarizing knowledge and experience for professors themselves. Besides, the students believed that such academic activities were helpful for those who urgently need to enhance their ability of thesis writing and academic writing. Therefore, they hoped that more similar activities can be organized in the future.
