At 9:00 on October 16, the Youth from Jiaotong Universities Gather for a New Journey to Build China into a Great Power Youth Preaching League of four Jiaotong universities was established and the first lecture was held at Beijing Jiaotong University. Supported by the Propaganda Work Research Branch of the Chinese Higher Education Association, the preaching league was proposed by Xi’an Jiaotong University and jointly initiated by Beijing Jiaotong University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Southwest Jiaotong University. Participants were Hao Qingjie, Deputy Secretary-General of China Higher Education Association; Sun Shouguang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Deputy President of Beijing Jiaotong University; Wang Lei, Deputy Director of the Publicity and Education Division of the Department of Ideological and Political Work of the Ministry of Education; Yang Chenguang, Director of the Mobile Communication Division of the Press and Propaganda Center of the Ministry of Education; Ning Qiuya, Deputy Chairman of the Propaganda Research Branch; Jiang Langlang, Honorary Chairman of the Publicity Research Branch; Hu Hao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department of Shanghai Jiaotong University; Cheng Jin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department of Xi’an Jiaotong University; Wang Zheng, Executive Director of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Committee of Southwest Jiaotong University. The event was hosted by Lan Xiaoxia, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department of Beijing Jiaotong University. Besides Wang Zheng, Executive Director of the Propaganda Department of our University’s CPC Committee and Director of the News Center, the University’s participants also included Xu Jinzhuan, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the University’s CPC Committee; Li Meng, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the University’s CPC Committee; Zhu Wei, Deputy Secretary of the University’s Youth League Committee; Zeng Jie, Section Chief of the Ideological and Theoretical Education Section of the Propaganda Department of the University’s CPC Committee; Hou Qian, Director of the Editorial Department of the University newspaper; Lan Zaicheng and Jiang Jing, Members of the Ideological and Theoretical Education Section of the Propaganda Department at the University’s CPC Committee; Li Hao, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of our School; Hu Haili and Leng Shuheng, speaker representatives; and undergraduate student Gong Yuzhu.
Hao Qingjie, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Higher Education Association, hoped that the Youth Preaching League of Jiaotong universities can fulfill their mission and tell the stories of their universities; give full play to the advantages of blending and the strength of youth; grasp the opportunities of the times and establish a propaganda brand. Ning Qiuya, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Research Branch, said that with the continuous enrichment and development of the Party’s innovative theories, the theoretical dissemination of young professors and students in colleges and universities has also been advancing with the times and vigorously carried out. She emphasized the need to improve the thoughts and strengthen the guidance of the branch; prepare to promote the implementation of the concept; and continue to build a propaganda brand.
The establishment of the Youth Preaching League of Jiaotong universities and the launching ceremony for the first lecture and flag awarding were held at the conference.
Subsequently, the leaders of the Preaching League of Beijing Jiaotong University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Southwest Jiaotong University respectively gave a brief introduction to the situation and characteristics of their preaching leagues. The speakers combined outstanding role models and spirits to show their energy and enthusiasm in shouldering the responsibility of youth.
Li Hao, the project leader of the Doctoral Preaching League of Southwest Jiaotong University, introduced the situation of the Preaching League from three aspects: group introduction, specific measures, and the effectiveness of education. Up to now, the Preaching League has carried out more than hundreds of theoretical lectures, covering more than 30,000 young students, and the scope of the lectures radiated to Party and government organs, colleges and universities, enterprises and institutions, and grassroots organizations. He said that the Doctoral Preaching League would continue to pursue their original intention and mission, so that the theoretical preaching would bloom with youthful vitality!
Hu Haili, an outstanding speaker of the Doctoral Preaching League of Southwest Jiaotong University, shared her thoughts with the theme of When the Motherland Calls at the lecture. Based on the film The Battle at Lake Changjin and its spirit, Hu Haili told a story about Tangshan Institute of Technology, North Jiaotong University, the predecessor of Southwest Jiaotong University. In the story, a special combat team-the Anti-U.S. Aid Korea Engineering Team of Tangshan Institute of Technology was sent out to North Korea 3 times to participate in the construction of the airport. As the only engineering team to resist US aggression and aid Korea, it made positive contributions to the final victory of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. The deeds of the Anti-U.S. Aid Korea Project Team were the glorious history written by the CPC and the people of Southwest Jiaotong University, as well as the precious spiritual wealth that history has given to the youth of Southwest Jiaotong University and even the whole country. We youths must work together. When the motherland called, we should bravely shoulder the important responsibilities of the times, work hard with the people, advance with the motherland, and be the forefront of the times, pioneers, devotees, and devote ourselves to pursue the great ideal of following the Party.
At the end of the event, members of the Youth Preaching League of Jiaotong universities visited Beijing Jiaotong University’s University History Museum and State Key Laboratory. They strengthened their understanding of the spirit of Jiaotong universities through their understanding of the Beijing Jiaotong University’s history. In the afternoon, members of the Preaching League visited the the Museum of the CPC, looking back at the glorious years and great journey of the Party’s centuries through precious historical objects, vivid historical images, and true historical archives and scenes. They relived the history of the Communist Party of China in the past century of unremitting struggle, sacrifice, theoretical exploration, benefiting the people, and self-construction. Members have studied Party history in practice, so that the theory is infiltrated in their hearts and externalized in actions.
This year marks the the centenary of the CPC and the 125th anniversary of the founding of Southwest Jiaotong University. The Youth Preaching League will build dreams and jointly conduct research and studies to inherit and carry forward the great Party-building spirit, construct the field of leading Jiaotong university youths, explore new ideas for uniting those youths, and discover new measures to serve those youths. In this way, it is able to demonstrate Jiaotong university youths’ high spirits, and convey their attitude towards struggle and responsibility!
