The School of Marxism originated from the Marxism-Leninism Teaching and Research Section in 1951, and has a teaching history of over 70 years. Over the course of 70 years, generations of Marxists and Leninists have forged ahead with enterprise and fortitude, fostering a large number of outstanding socialist builders and successors; Over the course of 70 years, faculty members and students have adhered to the tradition of having rigorous scholarship and strict requirements at Southwest Jiaotong University and striven in unity, achieving excellent academic accomplishments and forming a brilliant School culture. In order to better inherit and promote the culture of the School, refine the moral norms and codes of conduct that faculty members and students jointly abide by, and stimulate the strong development force of the School on the new journey, we are now soliciting the School motto from all faculty members and students of the School after the School’s research and decision. The specific notice contents are as follows:
I. Requirements for Our School Motto
1. Taking Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the fundamental principle, the motto should reflect the leading role of core socialist values and the guiding role of pursuing excellence and goodness.
2. The motto should embody the cultural characteristics showcased by the Marxist disciplines of the University and the School of Marxism during more than 70 years of development, as well as the current spirit and struggling momentum of working together for all faculty members and students in the School.
3. The motto should be concise and catchy, easy to understand, remember, and recite, and usually within 10 words.
II. Solicitation Requirements
1. Each Party and Youth League branch must attach great importance to this event and organize all faculty members and students to fully discuss, and carefully summarize and refine through branch organization activities. The branches should regard the solicitation of the School motto as an activity to review history, look forward to the future, gather consensus, and unite and advance, inspiring all faculty members and students of the School to promote the School’s construction and development with a more proactive spirit and uplifting attitude.
